NEW YORK CITY — Mechanical problems popped up across the city and caused delays on at least seven subway lines Thursday morning, officials said.

The MTA reported delays on the 3, 6, A, B,C, F, M, R and W lines as signal problems, door malfunctions and brakes activated jammed up the works.

All 3 train were skipping stops between 96th Street and Harlem-148th Street after a train's brakes were activated at about 8 a.m., said the MTA.

Southbound 6 trains were slowed because of a train with door problems at East 77th Street about 8:15 a.m. and a switch problem at Parkchester Avenue about 7:50 a.m., according to the MTA.

Northbound A trains suffered delays because of a switch problem at the 88th Street station just after 8 a.m., MTA officials said.

Coney Island-bound F and M trains were delayed by a train with mechanical problems at Broadway-Lafayette Street about 7:45 a.m.

Finally, southbound B and C trains were delayed by a train door problem at 96th Street in Manhattan.
