Trains on several MBTA commuter rail lines were delayed Thursday morning due to a variety of reasons, including mechanical issues, train traffic, and unruly passengers.
Officials tweeted that Fitchburg Train 410 (8:10 a.m. from Wachusett) was operating 15-25 minutes late between Ayer and North Station due to a crossing gate issue and a mechanical issue, and Franklin Line Train 744 (8:19 a.m. from Foxborough) was running 35-45 minutes late between Norwood Central and South Station due to a mechanical issue.
At 6:15 a.m. officials tweeted that Providence Line Train 800 (5 a.m. from Providence) was stopped at Canton Junction due to an unruly passenger and Transit Police were at the scene. That train was running 25-35 minutes behind schedule.

“This is a very minor incident,” Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said in an e-mail. “Two passengers had an argument relative to one being too close to the other.” The matter has since been resolved, he said.
Officials also tweeted that Middleborough Train 006 (6:58 a.m. from Middleborough/Lakeville) was cancelled due to a mechanical issue and Middleborough Train 008 (7:20 a.m. from Middleborough/Lakeville) was operating 35-45 minutes behind schedule “due to the late arrival of equipment and assisting with cancelled Train 006′s equipment.”
Worcester Train 508 (6:57 a.m. from Worcester) was operating 10-20 minutes behind schedule between Natick Center and South Station due to train traffic caused by earlier disruptions on the line, officials tweeted.
