WINDSOR LOCKS – Pilots on an Air Canada flight have landed safely at Bradley International Airport after reporting having problems mid-flight with the plane.
No one was injured and there was no impact to airport operations during the problem, said Alisa Sisic, spokeswoman for the airport.
Air Canada Express flight 8842 experienced a cracked windshield and smoke in the flight deck mid-flight, said Teri Udle, manager of corporate communications for Jazz Aviation which was operating the plane.
“Emergency vehicles were called as a precautionary measure - the safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority,” she said. “Our crews are well trained to deal with such situations and responded according to our standard operating procedures.”
The company’s maintenance personnel is investigating the cause of the problem, she said.
In August a vintage B-17 plane that was part of the “Wings of Freedom” Tour aviation history exhibit crashed while bringing customers on rides. A total of seven people were killed and seven others were injured in the crash, which remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
